Tax reporting on Pavo
Who reports what to the IRS, and who owes tax on sales.
Form 1099-K (US)
- Emmber, Inc. is responsible for Form 1099-K for its US sellers, not Stripe.
- The form reports gross card payments, including tips and before fees.
- Federal and state thresholds differ. Some states set lower thresholds, and a state form may follow.
- Pavo can pause payouts when a seller’s tax ID is needed and missing, until Stripe has it.
Names and words on the form
A form may show the filer as CULTIIVATE INC. That is the earlier name of Emmber, Inc., the same company.
Form 1099-K has a box for the filer’s type, including “electronic payment facilitator”. Pavo’s 1099-K setup chose that box. It is a tax form setting, not a license.
Tax on sales
The seller is responsible for tax on their sales, including income tax and sales tax or VAT.
Tax on Pavo’s own fee
Outside the US, VAT or GST on Pavo’s fee is covered in the terms for each country.
